when i was a quirky middle schooler i met some high school oboe players at the school i would go to for my freshman year and i had met them a couple times for school events, (i play oboe and it’s something that happens every year) and we all knew each other enough that if we saw eachother in public, it was an awkward hi and smile, nothing more. well i discovered furry stuff around that time and was curious, so i met one of my friends at a library hosted “nerd prom.” and they loaned me ears and a tail so i could try it out. And one of the older oboe players was there who recognized me and said hi, and still talked to me when we ended up in the same band, (i think? was going by a different name at these times) knowing that i had worn ears and a tail in public. she also ended up asking me to prom as a sophomore when she was a senior, 2-3 years after the “nerd prom” it was kind of awkward at dinner because neither of us are super confident at conversation and i’m still not sure if she had a crush on me for a long time or not but yeah. also at this eighth grade time after nerd prom, i told my parents i had wanted to make a tutsi it. i realized soon after that i actually didn’t and am not a furry. i’m pretty sure they still think i’m a closeted furry because i’ve died my hair the right colors. also i follow some furry accounts on my instagram cause friends of friends (mutuals?) but my “friends” saw the stories of this kinda stuff and think i’m a furry as well... I call them “friends” cause they don’t try and honestly kinda suck i just have nowhere else to go at my school. so this is just shade to myself and some other people i know.
